Cancun, Quintana Roo — A man was shot and killed in front of his children on Children’s Day in the El Milagro neighborhood, sparking outrage among residents.
The attack occurred on Egipto Street when armed individuals intercepted the victim and opened fire in the middle of the street, according to initial reports.
The scene was particularly harrowing as the man was accompanied by his two children, including a baby in a stroller, at the time of the shooting. Neighbors who witnessed or heard the incident expressed shock and concern.
The father died at the scene, while the attackers fled and remain unidentified. Authorities have not officially confirmed the victim’s identity.
Residents voiced alarm that such violence occurred on a symbolic date, highlighting the persistent insecurity in parts of the city.
