Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — Families in Isla Mujeres turned out for the latest edition of “Pelufest,” a community event organized to support animals at the local Animal Welfare Center.
Event Promotes Responsible Pet Care
The festival is part of municipal government initiatives led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde to encourage proper pet care practices. Throughout the day, attendees visited various stations promoting informed adoption and pet registration.

Pelufest featured a charity bazaar along with adoption and donation tables, aiming to strengthen community solidarity and volunteerism around animal welfare.
Rabies Vaccination Campaign Launches
During the event, municipal officials verified the start of the National Canine and Feline Anti-Rabies Vaccination Week, coordinated with Quintana Roo’s Health Department and Vector Control area. The campaign runs from March 22 to 27 in the municipality, with 580 vaccines administered to dogs and cats on the first day across both the island and mainland areas.
