Cancun, Quintana Roo — The Iberostar hotel will host the Expo Tattoo convention on May 16 and 17, an event aimed at elevating tattooing as a high-level artistic expression while welcoming collectors and newcomers in a professional, safe environment.

“We’ll be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. On Saturday we’ll have more than 430 tattoo artists competing in various categories, live music, mesh shows, and other entertainment. Admission is free for children under 10,” said organizer Alan Medina.

The perception of tattooing has evolved into a luxury service, Medina noted. A well-executed tattoo requires years of experience and solid training, and this professionalization ensures clients receive unique pieces created under the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and technique.

The event will feature artists from Mexico and around the world, including Fernando Tampa, Cristopher Mendez, Miguel Ramirez, Camilo Osorio, Jorge de Oleo, Jhon Alex, Storbo, Flaks, Fonzy, James Artink, Robin Carpio, Zuriel Robles, Eduardo Camacho, and Carlos Serrano.

Medina said that while tattooed people were once stigmatized, tattoos are now widely seen as an artistic expression that no longer hinders employment or social acceptance. He described the event as family-friendly.
