Boost Tourism with English Training for Taxi Drivers Linked to Maya Train Expansion

The State of Quintana Roo's Training Institute for Work (ICATQROO) has invited taxi driver unions to partake in English language and customer service training courses. This initiative comes in response to the increased tourism due to the operation of the Maya Train.

In 2024, only the Playa del Carmen taxi driver union expressed interest in this training. As a result, 2,500 drivers were able to enroll in these courses. The training will be conducted in groups to ensure optimal learning.

However, Alejandro Alamilla Villanueva, the director of ICATQROO, emphasized that the invitation to participate in these courses is still open to all public transportation organizations.

The goal of this program is to enhance the tourist experience in the state's main destinations. By improving the quality of tourism services, it aims to project a positive image of Quintana Roo.
