Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — An employee at a business in Playa del Carmen was injured in the neck during an attempted robbery at King Smoke Shop in the Zazil-Há neighborhood on Sunday night.
The suspect entered the store, located at the corner of Avenida CTM and Avenida 30, where the employee was alone. The man reportedly threatened the worker and demanded money and valuables.
When the employee tried to defend himself, the suspect attacked him with a knife, inflicting a wound to the neck. Despite the injury, the victim managed to break free and call for help.
Police officers from the Public Security Department responded to the emergency call, cordoned off the area, and paramedics provided first aid at the scene. Due to the severity of the wound, the worker was taken to a hospital for specialized treatment. Authorities had not officially released his condition as of this report.
The suspect fled before officers arrived. Police launched a search operation in the surrounding area and opened an investigation to locate the attacker.
