Tulum, Quintana Roo — The long-awaited transformation of Akumal has begun with the launch of a street paving project, a request the community had advocated for over an extended period. Municipal President Diego Castañón Trejo officiated the start of the construction work, marking the commencement of this highly anticipated initiative aimed at improving local infrastructure.

Fulfilling a Promise to Akumal Residents

During the groundbreaking ceremony, Castañón Trejo emphasized his administration’s commitment to delivering tangible results. “Since we walked through Akumal, a beloved delegation, residents had been asking for paved streets. Today, we are fulfilling that promise. Those who do not keep their word have nothing. We are here with actions, showing that Akumal’s transformation is moving forward,” he stated before the machinery began work.

The paving project is expected to benefit approximately 8,000 residents. Castañón Trejo reiterated his focus on accountability, stating, “Every peso that comes in must translate into better streets, more infrastructure, and ultimately, an improved quality of life for all of you.”

Technical Details and Timelines

Christian Moguel, Director of Construction Oversight, provided technical details about the project, confirming that the roads will be treated with asphalt sealant to meet local needs. He assured that all work adheres to regulatory standards to ensure quality and durability.

Moguel also acknowledged potential challenges, including disruptions from the upcoming rainy season, but pledged to expedite construction while minimizing inconvenience to residents. “We are committed to completing this project as quickly as possible, directing all necessary efforts to meet deadlines,” he said.

The initiative represents a significant step in addressing Akumal’s infrastructure needs, fulfilling a key campaign promise by Castañón Trejo’s administration.
