Cancún, Quintana Roo — A tortilla delivery driver was seriously injured yesterday morning after the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a Suburban-type SUV in Cancún’s Region 230, near Multiplaza Kabah. The incident prompted a significant mobilization of emergency services and traffic authorities.
The accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. when the motorcyclist attempted to cross the intersection of 60th and 89th Streets. According to eyewitnesses, the delivery driver had the right of way on 89th Street when he was hit by the Suburban, whose driver was allegedly speeding.
Motorcyclist Thrown Several Meters
Due to the severe impact, the tortilla delivery driver was thrown several meters, landing violently on the pavement. The man suffered multiple serious injuries, including the loss of several teeth, highlighting the severity of the crash.
Minutes after the collision, paramedics from a private ambulance arrived at the scene and provided first aid to the injured man. After stabilizing him, he was urgently transported to the General Hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition and placed under medical observation.
Later, officers from the Traffic Directorate arrived at the accident site to conduct the corresponding investigation and determine liability between the drivers involved, in order to establish the exact causes of the incident.
Authorities reiterated the call to respect speed limits and right-of-way rules, especially in high-traffic urban areas, to prevent accidents that endanger the lives of motorcyclists and motorists.
