Cancún, Quintana Roo — A free creative writing workshop called “El Abrelatas” is offering residents and visitors a space to explore storytelling, develop their imagination, and share their work in a supportive community setting.
Led by writer Alejandra Flores, the workshop uses exercises and group dynamics to help participants experiment with words, create narratives, and build confidence in their writing — regardless of experience level. Whether someone is a seasoned writer or just starting out, the workshop aims to provide tools for discovering new narrative possibilities.
“Writing is also a way to discover new ideas, develop imagination, and find different ways to tell what you see, think, or feel. Doing it in community opens new windows for creating stories,” Flores said.
“El Abrelatas” meets every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Café del 8, located inside the Teatro 8 de Octubre. Attendance is free; participants are only asked to bring a notebook and pen.
