Cancún, Quintana Roo — Hotel occupancy across Quintana Roo reached 57.7 percent for the week of Oct. 17 to 23, according to preliminary figures from the state Tourism Department and industry organizations.

The statewide average masks sharp differences between destinations, with Costa Mujeres posting the strongest performance and Holbox the weakest.

Destination by destination

  • Costa Mujeres: 68.5%
  • Riviera Maya: 58.7%
  • Cancún: 57.4%
  • Isla Mujeres: 56.2%
  • Puerto Morelos: 56.1%
  • Tulum: 53.5%
  • Cozumel: 49.6%
  • Grand Costa Maya: 34.9%
  • Holbox: 29.4%

The lowest levels came from Grand Costa Maya, at 34.9 percent, and Holbox, at 29.4 percent. In Holbox, fewer than three of every ten available rooms were occupied during the reporting period, according to the figures released.

The data, drawn from hotel associations, municipal tourism offices, the Quintana Roo Tourism Department and the state Tourism Promotion Council, point to uneven performance across the state’s destinations. While Costa Mujeres topped 68 percent occupancy, Cozumel stayed below half and Holbox did not reach 30 percent.
