Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The Museum of the Island of Cozumel will host “Fragmentos que Habitan,” a painting exhibition by Puebla-born artist Jose Munive, opening July 17 at 8 p.m. with free admission.
The show features works exploring identity, strength, and human resilience through portraits and scenes in mixed media. Munive, with over 30 years of experience, has presented more than 70 solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally, developing a distinctive style based on “figurative abstractions.”
Curated by architect Lidia Juarez, the exhibition places the female figure as a central symbol of strength and introspection, inviting viewers to discover the stories behind each gaze and gesture. The works function as containers of invisible stories where emotion takes center stage.
The Parks and Museums Foundation of Cozumel said the initiative is part of its commitment to the New Agreement for the Welfare and Development of Quintana Roo, promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, by fostering inclusive spaces that encourage access to art and culture.
