Cozumel, Mexico — In compliance with the directive of Municipal President José Luis Chacón Méndez, the Cozumel government has launched the 2025 Environmental Photography Contest as part of activities commemorating World Environment Day.
The competition aims to promote environmental awareness among the municipality’s youth by encouraging photography as an artistic medium to highlight local ecosystems, flora, fauna, and environmental challenges.
Contest Details and Participation
The contest is open to young people aged 12 to 29. Participants may register via WhatsApp at 987 688 5430 or in person at the Subdirectorate of Youth Services until Thursday, June 12, at 8:00 p.m.
An awards ceremony will take place on Friday, June 13, at 7:00 p.m. in Benito Juárez Park, where selected photographs will also be exhibited. Prizes include 2,000 pesos for first place and 1,000 pesos for second place.

Through this initiative, the municipal government reaffirms its commitment to fostering environmental values and strengthening youth participation in sustainable development efforts. Officials encourage all eligible participants to contribute to the preservation of Cozumel’s natural heritage through artistic expression.
