Cancún, Quintana Roo — Cancún officially begins its Christmas celebrations with the opening of a Christmas Village at Tajamar Boardwalk, which took place on December 16. This space, open to the public free of charge, will feature various lights, decorations, and activities designed for residents and visitors of the tourist destination.
The event, promoted by the government of Quintana Roo in collaboration with the Benito Juárez municipality, aims to offer a recreational and safe alternative for families to gather during the year-end holiday period. Among the main attractions are affordable mechanical games, such as the Ferris wheel, carousel, mechanical bull, and bumper cars, in addition to an ecological ice skating rink and a Christmas train. There will also be specially decorated areas for taking photographs and a gastronomic offering with traditional Mexican flavors and typical seasonal sweets.
Local authorities recommended that attendees arrive early to avoid crowds and ensure an orderly and safe experience at this event, which seeks to promote social cohesion and project Cancún as a destination with accessible entertainment options during Christmas. The initiative reflects a joint effort to boost domestic tourism and strengthen the festive identity of the region at a time when cultural and recreational activities gain greater importance for the community and visitors.
This type of event represents an opportunity to value the importance of family tourism in Cancún, a city that depends largely on its tourism sector and seeks to offer varied and safe experiences during the December season, thereby strengthening its image as a vacation destination with multiple recreational options.
