Cancun, Quintana Roo — The Cancun Fut Fest is gearing up for Mexico’s fourth World Cup match with expanded infrastructure, additional screens, and more recreational activities, according to Benito Juarez Tourism Secretary Juan Pablo de Zulueta.
De Zulueta said the match could be a turning point in the tournament and is expected to draw the largest crowd yet. After previous broadcasts attracted around 35,000 people since the event began, organizers have installed two additional 5-by-3-meter screens to increase capacity and improve comfort.
The fourth match presents a major challenge in terms of attendance, so officials are fine-tuning logistics, security, and organization to ensure a family-friendly, orderly, and completely free experience, de Zulueta said.
The event has become a social gathering point with a family atmosphere, no alcohol sales, and significant participation from domestic and international tourists, he added.
For the upcoming match, organizers will keep sports and recreational activities such as pull-up contests, 3-on-3 soccer, and fut-tenis, along with prize giveaways and interactive activities that have boosted community participation.
Playa Langosta will also host a giant screen for the semifinals on July 14 and 15, expanding viewing options for locals and visitors.
De Zulueta attributed the success of Fut Fest to coordination between the state government and the Benito Juarez city council, which have focused on reclaiming public spaces and promoting social coexistence through sports.
“This fourth match will be key, and we are ready to welcome more families with more activities and a safe environment for everyone,” he said.
