Cancun, Quintana Roo — The Benito Juarez Directorate of Attention to Sexual Diversity announced it will hold a free gender identity change event on June 26 as part of LGBTQ+ Pride Month activities.

Director Noamhy Hermida Nieves said the event expects to benefit about 80 people, nearly double the number of procedures completed last year. Document submission will remain open until June 5. Requirements include an updated birth certificate, CURP, proof of address, and a valid government ID.

In addition to gender identity changes, the event will offer equal marriage ceremonies and other legal recognition procedures for LGBTQ+ individuals. Hermida Nieves emphasized that these actions aim to strengthen respect for identities and combat discrimination, especially given the increase in attacks and negative comments on social media.

The event is open only to adults.
