Cancún, Quintana Roo — On August 23 and 24, Parque de las Palapas will host the second edition of "Qué Rico es Cancún," an event that will pay homage to the flavors and traditions of the states along the Maya Train route.
For two days, visitors and locals will be able to enjoy a gastronomic and artisan showcase featuring the best of Campeche, Chiapas, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, and Yucatán.
Carlos López, director of the Municipal Institute of Culture and Arts, explained that among the dishes to be offered are cazón (shark), tamales de chipilín, cochinita pibil, pescado a la tikin xik, pejelagarto asado (grilled garfish), and traditional marquesitas.
The gastronomic showcase will be located in the Pasillo Gladiolas of the emblematic park.
The event will be accompanied by a cultural festival starting at 4:00 p.m., with the participation of local artistic collectives and the Municipal Folk Ballet, which will present the show “Que me lleve el tren” (Let the Train Take Me), a performance inspired by the dance richness of the states traversed by the Maya Train.
This project seeks to establish itself as a monthly platform to celebrate the cultural identity of Cancún, promoting art and gastronomy as tools for community integration.
Furthermore, the festival will feature the presence of 20 local female artisans, who will exhibit and sell their creations, thereby strengthening the push for local talent and the local economy.
With this initiative, Cancún reaffirms its vocation as a tourist and multicultural destination, where the tradition, art, and flavor of the Mexican southeast converge.
