Cancún, Quintana Roo — A man was discovered bound and severely beaten in a green area of the Cuna Maya neighborhood yesterday morning, prompting a swift response from authorities and paramedics. The victim, who remained conscious, disclosed that he had escaped from a safe house where he was held captive.
Victim Located in Cuna Maya
At approximately 7:00 a.m. yesterday, emergency services received a report of a man lying in a vacant lot along Avenida Centenario, near the intersection with Ixtepec in Supermanzana 203, Manzana 27. Municipal police, accompanied by Mexican Navy and Army personnel, arrived at the scene and confirmed the victim—a man around 30 years old—had sustained multiple injuries and was bound with a cable.
Paramedics from the Red Cross provided first aid before transporting him to the General Hospital “Dr. Jesús Kumate Rodríguez.” Medical staff confirmed his condition was stable, though he remained under observation for further evaluation.
Kidnapping and Escape
Preliminary investigations revealed the victim, a construction worker, was forcibly abducted by armed individuals on Friday afternoon. He was taken to a safe house in Cuna Maya, where he was beaten for hours until losing consciousness. Upon regaining awareness yesterday morning, he seized the opportunity to flee when the house was unoccupied.
The man managed to reach a nearby green area, where he awaited authorities. Investigators later visited the residence he identified but found it empty, though bloodstains were discovered inside. Authorities suspect the case may be linked to the discovery of two executed individuals last week near Cecyte.
Ongoing Investigation
The State Ministerial Police are leading the investigation, with support from municipal and federal authorities. No arrests have been made at this time.
