Cancún, Quintana Roo — A body was discovered in a cenote in Cancún, wrapped in sheets and plastic bags, prompting a large-scale police response. The grim discovery occurred in the city’s Region 100, where authorities cordoned off the area to preserve the scene.
Authorities Respond to Disturbing Discovery
The deceased was found bound in sheets and black plastic bags, alarming nearby residents and leading to the intervention of state and municipal police. Forensic personnel from the Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office arrived to document the scene and transport the body to the Medical Forensic Service (SEMEFO) for identification.
No details about the victim or potential suspects have been released as of yet. Investigators are continuing their work to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
Second Grisly Discovery in Cancún
In a separate incident, dismembered human remains were found inside a cooler in Cancún’s Supermanzana 61, near the intersection of Calle 10 and Calle 63. The remains, stored in black bags, were discovered behind a supermarket after residents alerted authorities via emergency services.
Police secured the area while forensic experts collected evidence. The remains were transferred to SEMEFO for identification and further analysis. Authorities have not disclosed the victim’s identity or made any arrests but confirmed the opening of a homicide investigation.
Investigations into both cases remain ongoing.
