Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A free-admission benefit concert titled "En el corazón de Playa Live Session" will take place on August 16 at the Ammare Hotel Boutique, aiming to raise funds for the construction of a comprehensive care center for elderly residents. The event is part of a broader initiative led by local businesses and organizations committed to addressing social inequities in the region.
Concert Details and Participating Artists
The concert, scheduled for 5:00 p.m., will feature performances by Jemanuél, Los Panas de Venezuela, and Los Originales Papis de Cancún. Attendees are encouraged to make voluntary donations to support the senior care project, which seeks to provide a dignified space for Playa del Carmen’s aging population.
Land Donation for Senior Care Facility
Gabriela Rodríguez, legal representative of the real estate development company Arboleda Maya, confirmed the donation of a one-hectare plot for the future senior care center. The land, located approximately seven minutes from the Marsella III neighborhood, will be integrated into a residential complex.
Rodríguez emphasized the project’s design, which includes plazas, recreational areas, basic commercial spaces, and accessible green zones. "This is a space specifically designed for seniors, where they can socialize with their families, stay active, and receive dignified care," she stated.
Addressing a Critical Need
Playa del Carmen currently lacks long-term specialized infrastructure for elderly residents, making this initiative a significant step toward addressing a longstanding gap in social services. Rodríguez highlighted the urgency of the project, noting that many seniors face neglect from both families and authorities. "This center aims to reverse that abandonment by creating a functional, humane environment where they feel valued," she added.
Collaborative Efforts
The concert and broader project are supported by local businesses, including Minds Marketing, Vinka Studio, Ammare Hotel Boutique, and Eat Break, alongside civil organizations dedicated to elderly care. Rodríguez called on additional businesses and community members to contribute, framing the effort as a collective responsibility. "Society has given us so much. Now it’s our turn to give back," she said.
Next Steps
Funds raised during the concert will kickstart the technical and architectural planning phase. The event also aims to raise awareness about the pressing need for dignified spaces for seniors, many of whom have contributed to the city’s growth but now face vulnerability in their later years.
Organizers hope the senior care center will serve as a replicable model for other municipalities in the region.
