Cancún, Quintana Roo — In commemoration of World Bicycle Day, Mayor Ana Paty Peralta led the launch of “Rodando Cancún,” a free community event designed to rediscover the city by bicycle and promote active, safe, and human-centered mobility. The inaugural ride began at Parque Cancún and proceeded toward Malecón Tajamar, where the mayor reaffirmed her commitment to fostering activities that unite residents and strengthen local pride.
A Commitment to Urban Transformation
Upon arrival at the destination, Mayor Peralta emphasized her administration’s focus on revitalizing public spaces. “My commitment is to continue recovering and transforming our public areas with more parks, bike lanes, linear parks, and urban development that prioritizes people,” she stated.
Héctor Sánchez Tirado, Director of the Municipal Urban Development Planning Institute (IMPLAN), announced that the cycling event will take place monthly in different parts of the city to highlight safe mobility initiatives.
A Ride for Community and Nature
Hundreds of cyclists joined Mayor Peralta on the route, enjoying an outing filled with fun, camaraderie, and a connection to nature. To conclude the event, municipal authorities and sponsors surprised attendees with raffles for “Paseo Cancunense” merchandise, including T-shirts, caps, sunglasses, and umbrellas, as well as a bicycle, creating an atmosphere of excitement and joy.
