Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Mexican Association of Women Entrepreneurs (AMEXME) Riviera Maya Chapter has signed a collaboration agreement with the Playa del Carmen DIF System to promote the "Carril Rosa" program, an initiative created by the association.
The president of AMEXME Riviera Maya Chapter 2025-2028, Valeria Rindertsma, signed the agreement on behalf of the business organization, together with Eduardo Asencio Martínez, honorary president of the Playa del Carmen DIF, and Jesús Rodríguez, director of the DIF.
The "Carril Rosa" project consists of seeking rehabilitation for women who have lymphedema, which is caused by their treatment for breast cancer. Lymphedema is a condition that causes women who have had their breasts removed due to breast cancer to lose mobility in their limbs. Therefore, through physical therapies thanks to the "Carril Rosa" program implemented in the municipal swimming pools of Playa del Carmen, their recovery and a better quality of life can be achieved.
According to President Valeria Rindertsma, this agreement is signed between AMEXME Riviera Maya, the municipality of Playa del Carmen, the Institute for Women, the DIF System, and the Sports Institute.
Following the signing of the agreement, the next steps are as follows: women who wish to participate are called, they are evaluated by DIF doctors, and the program begins, lasting approximately three to four months, during which they attend the municipal swimming pool where the physical therapies are taught.
The therapies will be taught by professors from the Playa del Carmen Sports Institute, who were previously trained by a specialist that AMEXME Riviera Maya brought from Mexico City. This training course took place on Saturday, October 11. The training was provided to 14 people, including professors, DIF staff, and Sports Institute staff who are responsible for teaching the therapies.
"We are very happy because of the 74 Chapters we have of AMEXME nationally, only four have implemented the Carril Rosa and we are one of them," emphasized President Valeria Rindertsma.
It is worth noting that AMEXME Riviera Maya was the second Chapter to implement it in 2023 and now, with the renewal of this agreement, it will continue until 2027. Thanks to this, the recovery of many women in Playa del Carmen who have suffered from breast cancer can be supported.
