Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The 44th edition of the Gran Torneo de Pesca “Nuestra Señora del Carmen 2025” concluded successfully, drawing local, national, and international anglers to Playa del Carmen’s shores. The municipal government, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, organized the event, which emphasized sustainable sport fishing and marine conservation.
Tournament Results and Highlights
The vessel Alux 3, based in Playa del Carmen, claimed victory with 6,300 points, securing the championship title. Competitors from across Quintana Roo and abroad participated in the catch-and-release format, promoting ecological responsibility.
The awards ceremony took place at Playa Fundadores, attended by Antón Bojórquez, Secretary of Economic Development and Investment Attraction, alongside local officials, event sponsors, and Feria del Carmen Queen Jimena Puc. The full standings were as follows:
- 1st Place: Alux 3 (Playa del Carmen) – 6,300 points
- 2nd Place: Markaritaville (Cozumel) – 1,266.50 points
- 3rd Place: La Cubera (Xpu-Há) – 1,018.65 points
- 4th Place: Hook Up – 994.40 points
A Celebration of Tradition and Sustainability
Participants hailed from Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Puerto Aventuras, Puerto Morelos, Isla Mujeres, and other Caribbean locales, as well as international anglers. Secretary Bojórquez praised the event’s role in fostering community pride and positioning Playa del Carmen as a hub for sustainable sports tourism.
The tournament, now in its 44th year, reinforced its commitment to marine conservation while celebrating the region’s fishing heritage.
