Aguakan Hosts CANACINTRA Tour at Reverse Osmosis Plant in Puerto Aventuras

Business leaders from CANACINTRA tour the Aguakan reverse osmosis desalination plant in Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo.

Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — Water utility Aguakan and the local chapter of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (CANACINTRA) jointly hosted an open-door tour of a new reverse osmosis desalination plant here, aiming to promote water conservation awareness among businesses and civil society.

During the visit, the president of CANACINTRA Playa del Carmen and members toured the facility, which is Aguakan’s third desalination plant in the Playa del Carmen municipality and the first in Puerto Aventuras. The installation can produce up to 50 liters per second, significantly bolstering the local drinking water supply.

“From CANACINTRA, we thank Aguakan for this tour,” said José Luis Acosta Quián, president of CANACINTRA Playa del Carmen. “We reiterate our commitment to maintaining an open-door relationship and joint collaboration. We will continue working hand in hand.”

The plant represents an investment of over 53 million pesos made by Aguakan in 2021. It uses reverse osmosis technology to produce high-quality water and currently serves more than 7,400 customers directly. Officials said it was strategically developed in a key location to support urban growth and tourism expansion in the area.

“At Aguakan, we bet on solid and environmentally safe technological solutions, which has allowed us to remain at the forefront of drinking water and sanitation services,” said Carlos González, the event organizer. “We also recognize the importance of continuing to generate synergies with local business chambers, which are a key engine for the region’s economic and social development.”

Several CANACINTRA members attended the tour, including Tania Monserrat Díaz Centeno, Lucelly Guadalupe Ramos Montejo, Biatia Yanira Vargas Rangel, Abril Guadalupe López Pariente, Leonardo Petinari, Sergio de Padua Góngora, Carlos Eduardo Torres Hernández, Héctor Emmanuel García Rivera, and Georgina Reséndiz Camarillo.
