14 Men Charged With Domestic Violence, Attempted Feminicide in Quintana Roo

Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office has obtained formal charges against 14 men for domestic violence and attempted feminicide in several municipalities across the state.

The suspects were presented before judges who ruled there was sufficient evidence to proceed with prosecution. The cases were handled by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes Against Women and Gender-Based Crimes.

Cases in Othón P. Blanco and Playa del Carmen

In Othón P. Blanco, Erik Ariel “N”, Efraín “N”, and Gerardo “N” were charged with physically and verbally assaulting their romantic partners. All three were ordered to remain in pretrial detention.

Lorenzo Antonio “N” and Carlos Guillermo “N” were also charged in separate domestic violence cases in the same municipality.

In Playa del Carmen, Asunción “N”, José Antonio “N”, and Edgar Javier “N” were charged with assaulting their partners. Eder Alfredo “N” was charged with assaulting and threatening his mother and was also ordered held in pretrial detention.

Benito Juárez and Tulum

In Benito Juárez, Rogelio “N”, Abenamar “N”, and Christopher Rolando “N” were charged. Christopher Rolando “N” faces additional charges of attempted feminicide against his romantic partner.

In Tulum, Miguel Ángel “N” was charged with domestic violence against his two minor daughters. Justin Brandon “N”, a foreign national, was charged with physically and verbally assaulting his partner under constant threats.

The Prosecutor’s Office said it will continue to strengthen efforts to combat gender-based violence and ensure access to justice for victims in Quintana Roo.
