Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The water utility Aguakan has informed residents of Playa del Carmen that some neighborhoods are experiencing low water pressure following an incident where construction work fractured a 20-inch potable water line.
The company stated the damage occurred yesterday due to work by the real estate developer CADU. While crews have completed repairs on the affected pipe, restoring full service requires a multi-stage operational process.
Aguakan has restarted operations at the water intake zone to refill storage tanks. Water is then being pumped to various pumping stations throughout the city for final distribution to homes.
The utility explained that due to the complexity of the hydraulic system, this process takes time, and a full return to normal pressure will occur gradually.
Aguakan apologized for any inconvenience and said it is working to restore service as quickly as possible. Customers can contact the company at 073 or consult its official social media accounts on Facebook and X, under the handle @DHCAGUAKAN, for more information.
