Police officers conducting operations in Cancún following recent robberies

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Authorities in Cancún have arrested two suspects in connection with recent robberies and announced plans to intensify police operations throughout the city, particularly targeting motorcycle patrols.

Mayor Ana Paty Peralta confirmed the arrests following a series of criminal incidents that raised security concerns in the popular tourist destination. The mayor stated that police have detained two individuals suspected of involvement in the robberies.

“We have provided direct support to the victims, in this case two foreign women, who received assistance from authorities and filed their complaints with the State Prosecutor’s Office,” Peralta said. “This has allowed us to advance the investigations.”

The mayor credited Municipal Police work for the initial arrests and promised continued follow-up to identify additional suspects and ensure justice is served.

Peralta acknowledged that motorcycles continue to be used to commit crimes in the city, emphasizing the importance of maintaining and strengthening inspection operations. “These operations aim to verify that drivers have proper documentation while also deterring criminal activity through increased police presence on the streets,” she explained.

The security strategy includes both preventive measures and immediate response capabilities designed to reduce crime rates and provide greater safety for both residents and visitors to the tourist destination.
