Two People Shot Near Tulum Hotel; Security Guard in Critical Condition

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Two people were shot early Tuesday near the Hotel Zulum on the hotel zone’s kilometer 7.5, leaving a security guard in critical condition, authorities said.

Police and emergency services responded to a report around 5:40 a.m. and found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds. The man works as a security guard in the area, and the woman is believed to be his wife, according to preliminary information.

Paramedics provided pre-hospital care at the scene. The man was taken to Costamed hospital, where he remains under specialized medical care. The woman was initially taken to the IMSS-Bienestar General Hospital but was later transferred to Costamed for further treatment.

Officers from multiple security agencies cordoned off the area while investigators collected evidence. The police presence remained at the site for several hours as ministerial procedures were carried out.

No arrests have been reported, and officials have not determined the motive behind the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
