Tulum Taxi Drivers Targeted: Rising Violence Claims Lives

In a recent surge of violence in Tulum, a taxi driver from the "Caribbean Sharks" union was found dead near Tulum International Airport. His burnt-out vehicle was discovered nearby. Emergency units from Felipe Carrillo Puerto were dispatched to the scene following a report of a vehicle fire on Federal Highway 307, in the Muyil section.

Upon arrival, they confirmed that the vehicle belonged to the taxi union and discovered the lifeless body of the driver. The driver showed signs of execution, with multiple gunshot wounds and a fatal shot known as the "coup de grâce".

Next to the body, a narcomanta, or drug cartel message, was found. It named three individuals: "Cuervo, Boxer, and Lorena", and implied they were next. This is the third taxi driver killed this month, causing increasing concern among Tulum's driving workers.

While authorities are investigating the incidents, the taxi union is calling for increased security in response to the escalating violence in Tulum.
