Tulum Opens First Ambulance Base for Emergencies

TULUM — In an unprecedented move for the municipality's public health system, Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo has inaugurated the first Municipal Ambulance Base, a facility equipped with trained personnel and modern units to provide immediate attention in emergency situations.

"This is a novel act because, for the first time, Tulum will have a base for emergencies, which will allow us to provide urgent services in a timely and efficient manner. This unit is part of the comprehensive health project we have planned for our municipality," the mayor stated during the ceremonial event held in the Xulka neighborhood.

The mayor announced that, in addition to the newly inaugurated facility, ambulances will be strategically deployed across the municipality: one in Chanchén Primero to serve the Mayan zone and transitional area; another in Akumal to cover the Riviera; and a third stationed at the municipal headquarters, guaranteeing total coverage of the territory.

For her part, the Director General of Health, Sonia Vargas, emphasized that this space is designed "to provide a rapid, opportune, and effective response in emergency situations. This base represents not just infrastructure, but also a commitment to the life, safety, and peace of mind of the families in this region."

The new base will operate with 24-hour emergency services. It will be equipped with uniforms for personnel, communication radios, office tools, and fully-equipped ambulances featuring modern technology.

With this action, the municipal government reaffirms its commitment to delivering tangible results by bringing health services closer to the population and consolidating the principle of social justice for the direct benefit of Tulum's families.
