Othón P. Blanco, Quintana Roo — The Executive Secretariat of the System for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (SIPINNA) has stepped up training for the Tourist Police in Othón P. Blanco to improve prevention and detection of child trafficking in areas with heavy tourist traffic.
As part of activities marking World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, officers received instruction on identifying warning signs, recruitment methods used by exploitation networks, and protocols for assisting and referring potential victims.
The training also covered the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents, considered one of the most severe forms of trafficking, as well as the legal framework governing authorities’ actions in such cases.
SIPINNA said these efforts are part of an ongoing strategy to strengthen child protection in Quintana Roo’s tourist destinations, complemented by public awareness campaigns to encourage reporting and prevent the crime.
