Emergency responders at a motorcycle accident scene in Cancun

Cancun, Quintana Roo — Three motorcyclists died in separate accidents across Cancun on Saturday, according to transit authorities and emergency services.

The latest crash occurred on Avenida Cobá around 4 p.m., when a delivery truck from Home Depot struck a motorcyclist from behind near the intersection with Avenida Bonampak. The impact threw the rider several meters across the pavement. Witnesses called 911.

Rescue personnel confirmed the man died at the scene from severe head trauma. Although he was wearing a helmet, it came off during the collision.

Earlier Saturday, two other motorcyclists were killed:

  • On Arco Vial near Avenida Costa Maya, a rider died after losing control and skidding in the early morning.
  • In the Hotel Zone, a motorcyclist was struck and killed by a public transit bus at dawn.

State Prosecutor’s Office agents removed the body from Avenida Cobá, while firefighters cleaned oil and debris from the road.

Unofficial reports suggest the victim on Avenida Cobá was a relative of a Tourist Police officer, but authorities have not confirmed this.

The three deaths bring the total number of motorcycle-related fatalities in Cancun to three in less than 24 hours.
