Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Three people were arrested Wednesday in the Félix González Canto neighborhood during a joint operation by the Public Security Department and the Mexican Navy on drug-related charges.
Authorities identified the suspects as Jesús Armando “N,” Miguel Ángel “N,” and Marcia Beatriz “N,” who are also believed to be linked to several recent robberies on the island, according to officials.
The arrests occurred during routine patrols when investigators spotted two men and a woman behind a motorcycle exchanging bags containing green vegetation resembling marijuana. When officers approached, one suspect tried to flee on the motorcycle while the other two stayed at the scene.
A search yielded 19 bags of dried marijuana, nine bags of crack-like solid fragments, eight wrappers of suspected crystal meth, and 10 packages of what appeared to be cocaine. Officers also seized 350 pesos in cash, two fanny packs, a reusable bag, and an orange-and-black Italika X125 motorcycle without license plates.
The three suspects and all evidence were turned over to the State Prosecutor’s Office, which will continue the investigation.
