Search Operation for Missing People Deployed in Felipe Carrillo Puerto

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo — Police officers from several agencies and a group of mothers searching for missing relatives carried out a joint operation in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, combing areas on the outskirts of the municipal seat and posting missing-person notices in the town center.

The operation began in front of the offices of the State Commission for the Search of Missing Persons, on Calle 67 between Calle 56 and Calle 58 in the Cecilio Chí neighborhood. Participating agencies included the Investigation Police, the Citizen Security Department’s Grupo Jaguar unit, Municipal Police, the Mexican Navy and the National Guard.

After coordinating their efforts, the teams moved through the city’s main streets to place search notices for missing people, accompanied by the group of mothers. They later extended the search to areas bordering the municipal seat.

Officials have not reported any results from the operation so far. Roughly a dozen similar operations have been carried out in the municipality without producing positive findings.

The municipality has accumulated 35 formal complaints of missing persons filed with the State Prosecutor’s Office. The most recent was filed on September 19 for the disappearance of Cristian Alfonso Poot Gómez, 26, who was last seen on September 18 when he left his home on a motorcycle. His family still does not know what happened to him or to the vehicle.
