Ride-Share Driver Caught Without Permits in Tulum

A Hyundai vehicle with Morelos plates stopped by mobility inspectors in Tulum

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Officials from the Quintana Roo Mobility Institute (Imoveqroo) detected a driver for the ride-sharing platform InDriver providing transport to tourists near the ADO bus terminal in Tulum without the required documentation to operate legally in the state.

The vehicle, a Hyundai with Morelos license plates PWG-207-F, was identified during routine inspections aimed at ensuring compliance with regulations for public and private passenger transport, the agency said.

According to Imoveqroo, this car is one of at least five vehicles linked to digital platforms that have been found operating in the municipality without the necessary permits to offer passenger transport services.

Authorities warned that drivers who fail to meet the requirements could face fines of up to 6,000 pesos, in addition to other penalties under Quintana Roo law.

Imoveqroo reminded that providing transport services through digital apps requires a valid insurance policy and compliance with specific authorizations and procedures established by state authorities to ensure the safety of users and operators.
