Cancún, Quintana Roo — The state government announced it has administered more than 330,000 vaccine doses, surpassing by 277% the target of 119,212 doses set during the National Vaccination Drive.
Health Secretary Flavio Carlos Rosado said in a statement that the campaign, which began as a National Vaccination Week and was extended to over a month, delivered 15 types of vaccines from the National Vaccination Schedule. The shots targeted children, adolescents, adults, pregnant women, and at-risk groups to protect against various diseases.
To ensure distribution, the State Health Department strategically boosted operational capacity by hiring temporary staff to join vaccination brigades. It also improved mobility for health teams with dedicated transport units, allowing them to reach urban and rural communities across all 11 municipalities.
The state strengthened its vaccine distribution network by adding two specialized Thermo King trucks equipped to maintain temperatures between 4 and 8 degrees Celsius, preserving vaccine potency and effectiveness during transport.
Governor Mara Lezama praised the extraordinary efforts of vaccinators, nursing staff, brigade members, health promoters, and health sector workers who, from April 25 to May 31, staffed mobile modules, workplaces, health centers, hospitals, and walked through neighborhoods and communities to deliver vaccines free of charge, safely, and promptly.
