Cancún, Quintana Roo — Quintana Roo has recorded 367 confirmed measles cases so far in 2026, giving the state an incidence rate of 17.14 cases per 100,000 residents, according to the most recent Health Department report, which covers cases through September 7.
That places Quintana Roo fifth nationally by incidence rate, behind Jalisco, Durango, Zacatecas and Chiapas, according to data from the Directorate General of Epidemiology.
The state has reported 653 cases of febrile exanthematous illness (EFE), of which 367 were confirmed as measles. No deaths linked to the disease have been reported in Quintana Roo.
Officials cautioned that the number of confirmed cases could rise as pending cases are classified, meaning some records may correspond to earlier weeks rather than recent infections.
National Toll Reaches 19,517 Cases
Nationwide, 19,517 confirmed measles cases have been recorded during 2025 and 2026, spread across all 32 states and 513 municipalities. Authorities have confirmed 46 deaths related to the disease over the same period.
Symptoms and Vaccination
Measles typically begins with fever, cough, a runny nose and red eyes, followed by spots or a rash that spreads across different parts of the body.
Health authorities urge anyone with compatible symptoms to visit a medical unit for evaluation and to avoid contact with other people.
Vaccination efforts continue in Quintana Roo through health units and sites set up by health authorities. The State Health Department has announced the installation of modules and large vaccination hubs, in addition to permanent posts at health centers and hospitals across the state.
Residents can find the nearest vaccination site through the “Where Do I Get Vaccinated?” platform, which lists available centers and their opening hours by state and municipality. Information is also available by calling 079.
Measles vaccination is free, and the Health Department continues to prioritize children between 6 months and 12 years old who have not received a dose or have an incomplete vaccination schedule.
