Aguascalientes, Mexico — Athletes from Quintana Roo have delivered a formidable performance at the CONADE 2025 National Paralympiad, securing a total of 22 medals in the sport of parathletics. The delegation's success was highlighted during the third day of competition at the Aguascalientes Olympic Stadium, where the youth categories commenced their events.
Adverse Conditions Fail to Deter Athletes
Not even adverse weather conditions could dampen the drive of the Quintana Roo parathletes, who distinguished themselves during the third day of the national event. On this day, the delegation secured four new medals: two gold and two bronze.
This stage marked the beginning of the youth categories' participation, and from the start, the Quintana Roo delegation showed positive results. Officials stated this is a reflection of the momentum and constant support they receive through the Quintana Roo Sports Commission (CODEQ), led by Jacobo Arzate Hop, and in line with the New Agreement for Well-being and Development promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa.
Medalists and Their Achievements
The first gold medal was won by Estrella Pacheco Ángeles, who became the national champion in the 100-meter dash within the Superior Youth category, T22 classification, demonstrating great dominance on the track.
The second gold was achieved by Ilian Poot Navarrete, who was crowned champion in the shot put (F32 classification) with a mark of 2.75 meters, surpassing representatives from Yucatán and the State of Mexico.
Meanwhile, Alain Salazar Yam earned a bronze medal in the 100-meter dash, T35 classification. Darío Ramírez Rodríguez, accompanied by his guide Carlos Daniel Cocom García, secured another bronze in the same event within the T12 category.
A Leading Delegation
With these results, Quintana Roo has accumulated a total of 22 medals in the discipline of parathletics. The medal count consists of 11 gold, five silver, and six bronze, reaffirming its position as one of the most outstanding delegations in the national competition.
