Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Quintana Roo is sending its largest-ever delegation to the National Olympics with the goal of finishing among the top ten states in the country, officials announced.

Jacobo Arzate Hop, head of the Quintana Roo Commission for Youth and Sports (Codeq), said the state will be represented by more than 800 athletes, coaches, and technical staff members. “We will be in the top ten; we predict very good results,” he stated.

The delegation will compete in 39 sports disciplines, three more than in the previous edition, along with six events in the National Paralympics. Arzate Hop noted that athletes from all 11 municipalities in the state are participating, reflecting broader inclusion and sports development.

He highlighted the support provided to athletes, particularly para-athletes, including assistance with accommodation, meals, and transportation for competitions. “We are supporting her and the group of para-athletes… raising the name of Quintana Roo,” he said.

Institutional support covers essential participation costs, while personal expenses remain the responsibility of the athletes themselves.

As part of a strategy to improve performance, the state government grants athletes an additional day before their competitions. “This is so they have comfort before competing… we have seen that it helps their performance quite a bit,” Arzate Hop explained.

The official also pointed to the addition of new sports like handball, skateboarding, and golf, which expands medal opportunities for the Quintana Roo team.
