Puenteando Festival Returns to Cancún’s Nichupté Bridge for Third Edition

Cancún, Quintana Roo — The free Puenteando festival will return to the Nichupté Bridge for a third edition on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with organizers expecting a bigger crowd than at previous installments.

Governor Mara Lezama announced the event’s return during the first edition, held after construction of the Nichupté Bridge was completed. The state government organizes the gathering to encourage residents to take part in physical activity, improve their health and strengthen community ties, with lanes set aside for jogging, running, walking or simply riding a bike across the bridge in Cancún’s Hotel Zone.

Admission is free, and families — pets included — are welcome as long as the rules of each activity are respected.

Four pavilions along the bridge

The Quintana Roo Mobility Institute (IMOVEQROO) published the schedule of activities for the September edition. Events for all ages will be spread across four pavilions along the span, and visitors can enter from either end of the structure. Golf carts will be available for older adults and anyone who requests one.

• Entrepreneur pavilion
• Food pavilion

How to take part

Puenteando requires no registration. Organizers ask attendees simply to show up and join in, bringing sunscreen, drinking water, a hat and trash bags, and to treat others respectfully.

Those who want to rent a bicycle must hand over their INE voter ID card at the rental stand and return the bike before the event ends to get the document back.
