Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A public transport driver ran a stop sign at a roundabout in the Cruz de Servicios neighborhood on Tuesday morning, causing a collision that left one person injured and both vehicles damaged.
The crash occurred around 10:00 a.m. when the driver of a public transport vehicle, number 239 from the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río union, failed to stop at the intersection of Paseo Central Avenue and 125th Avenue.
A gray Chevrolet Chevy, which had the right of way on that road, was struck on the side by the transport vehicle. The impact caused significant damage to the car and left the female driver feeling unwell.
Bystanders called an ambulance and helped extract the driver from her vehicle after the collision jammed the car door shut.
Municipal traffic officers responded to clear the roadway and determine responsibility for the crash. The transport driver’s insurance will cover the damages.
