Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Playa del Carmen will host a public viewing of the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals this weekend, Mayor Estefanía Mercado announced Thursday.

The event, dubbed the ‘Corona Caravan,’ will take place July 18-19 at Plaza 28 de Julio, where a giant screen will broadcast the tournament’s final matches. Organizers expect dozens of fans to attend.

On Saturday, July 18, at 4 p.m., the third-place match will be shown. The following day at 2 p.m., attendees can watch the final between Argentina and Spain.

“We look forward to seeing you there to make history and show that Playa del Carmen beats to the rhythm of the World Cup!” Mercado wrote on Facebook.

Infrastructure setup will begin July 17 to ensure proper conditions for the event. The mayor also confirmed there will be music, activities, and surprises for attendees.

The announcement came a day after Mercado met with Grupo Modelo regional manager Ricardo Morales Ugalde, who revealed a significant investment to build a new distribution plant in Playa del Carmen, aimed at boosting local employment and economic activity.
