Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Neighborhoods in the northwestern part of the city were left without electricity for more than four hours early Saturday after another power outage struck the area.
The blackout began at approximately 1:40 a.m. and affected parts of the Villas del Sol and Palmas Turquesa residential areas. Power was gradually restored shortly after 6 a.m.
Preliminary reports indicate the outage was caused by a failed transformer in the area. Crews replaced the transformer to bring the supply back online, allowing residents in the affected neighborhoods to regain electricity during the early morning hours.
Authorities have not yet provided a figure for the number of users impacted by the interruption.
