Playa del Carmen, Mexico — As part of ongoing efforts to improve urban mobility and prevent accidents, the Playa del Carmen Secretariat of Citizen Security, through its Directorate of Traffic and Roadways, has reinforced “Operation Bikers” across key areas of the city.

Enforcement Actions Yield Significant Results

In recent days, the operation has resulted in 128 traffic violations and the impoundment of 18 motorcycles for non-compliance with regulatory requirements. Authorities also detained a male driver who attempted to evade a checkpoint before being apprehended shortly afterward. Upon inspection, officers determined the individual exhibited a first-degree level of alcohol intoxication, leading to his immediate referral to the appropriate authorities.

Common Violations Identified

The most frequent infractions recorded during the operation include:

  • Failure to wear a protective helmet
  • Operating motorcycles without license plates or proper documentation
  • Use of modified exhaust systems producing excessive noise
  • Unauthorized entry into restricted zones

Strategic Deployment

The initiative is conducted randomly along high-traffic corridors such as CTM Avenue, 115th Avenue, and the federal highway, particularly during peak vehicular hours.

A Long-Term Commitment to Safety

“Operation Bikers” will continue indefinitely as part of the municipal government’s broader strategy, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, to maintain road order and reduce public safety risks.
