Pack of Stray Dogs Causes Crash on Cancun Avenue, Driver Escapes Injury

A white Ford pickup truck with front-end damage crashed into a Telmex telephone pole on a Cancun street.

Cancun, Quintana Roo — A driver escaped serious injury after crashing his pickup truck into a telephone pole while trying to avoid a pack of stray dogs on Avenida Niños Héroes, near the Chac Mool intersection in Supermanzana 220.

The driver of a white Ford pickup lost control of the vehicle when several dogs suddenly entered the roadway, forcing him to swerve sharply. The truck struck a Telmex telephone pole head-on, producing a loud crash that alerted nearby residents.

Residents rushed out to find the truck with severe front-end damage. No serious injuries were reported, but the accident caused thousands of pesos in property damage.

Traffic officers arrived at the scene to investigate, document the incident, and coordinate the removal of the damaged vehicle, which partially blocked traffic. Telmex personnel were notified to assess damage to the pole and prevent further hazards.

Residents of Supermanzana 220 said this is not the first such incident. They reported that a pack of stray dogs regularly gathers at that spot, invading the roadway and endangering drivers and pedestrians. They said they have repeatedly asked authorities to address the problem but have received no permanent solution.

Residents are urging municipal officials to take action to control stray animals and improve safety in the area to prevent future accidents.
