Olvera and Celaya Claim Synchronized 3m Springboard Gold

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic — Osmar Olvera won his second gold medal of the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, teaming with Juan Celaya to claim the synchronized 3m springboard title after a tense final at the Juan Pablo Duarte Aquatic Center.

Olvera, a double Olympic medalist and world champion, and Celaya totaled 419.34 points to edge out Colombian divers Luis Uribe and Sebastian Morales, who finished with 414.99. Dominicans Frandiel Gomez and Jose Calderon took bronze with 345.57.

The Mexican pair nearly let the gold slip with a poor fifth dive, which Olvera asked to repeat after claiming obstruction. They responded with a decisive final effort, scoring 88.92 points on a forward 2½ somersault with three twists in pike position.

Olvera had won the 1m springboard title two days earlier. The duo also became world champions in 2025.

In the women’s 1m springboard final, Mexico’s Rut Paez captured gold with 265.20 points, ahead of Colombia’s Daniela Zapata (253.35) and Cuba’s Prisis Ruiz (248.50). It was Paez’s second gold in Santo Domingo.
