Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A new blackout caught residents of several Playa del Carmen neighborhoods off guard Friday afternoon, leaving homes across the city temporarily without electricity.

Among the areas reported affected were Villas del Sol and its various phases, Real Amalfi, Real Ibiza, Colonia 125, Colosio, and the area around Avenida CTM, where residents lost power for a period of time.

The outage came amid a series of interruptions that have hit different parts of the city in recent weeks. Service had already begun returning gradually to the affected areas.

Officials have not yet announced what caused the latest interruption to the electricity supply.
