A burned motorcycle on the side of Federal Highway 307 after a collision with a bus

Tulum, Quintana Roo — A motorcyclist died Wednesday after colliding head-on with a passenger bus on Federal Highway 307, in the Tulum-Felipe Carrillo Puerto section near the community of Pino Suárez. The impact caused the motorcycle to catch fire.

According to initial reports and witness accounts, the motorcyclist was traveling north to south when he allegedly crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the front-left side of an ADO bus heading south to north toward Cancún.

The bus was carrying approximately 40 passengers, none of whom were injured, though some suffered nervous shock. After the collision, the motorcycle burst into flames and was completely burned out on the roadway.

The motorcyclist was thrown from the vehicle and landed on the side of the road, where he died from his injuries. His identity has not yet been released.

Civil protection personnel arrived to secure the area and manage traffic, while paramedics from Tulum Hospital confirmed the motorcyclist had no vital signs.

National Guard officers cordoned off the scene and awaited investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office, who took charge of the evidence and body removal.

Passengers remained at the site until another bus arrived to continue their journey.
