Cancun, Quintana Roo — A motorcyclist died late Monday night after colliding with a double-trailer truck on Jose Lopez Portillo Avenue in Cancun’s 3 Reyes neighborhood.

The accident occurred around 11:15 p.m., prompting an emergency response after nearby residents reported the crash.

According to preliminary investigations, the truck driver was attempting a U-turn when the trailer cut off the motorcyclist, who could not avoid hitting the side of the vehicle and was then dragged under the wheels.

Paramedics and officers from the Cancun Police and Transit Department arrived at the scene and confirmed the victim had no vital signs.

Several beer cans were found at the crash site, which authorities said the motorcyclist had been carrying.

The truck driver was detained at the scene and turned over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to determine responsibility.

Forensic experts from the State Prosecutor’s Office collected the body and transported it to the Forensic Medical Service as an unidentified person.

Surveillance footage from the C5 security cameras will be key to clarifying the exact sequence of events.
