Man Dies in Cancún After Group Attack in Paraíso Maya

Police cordon off the scene of a fatal beating in Paraíso Maya, Cancún

Cancún, Quintana Roo — An afternoon of violence in the Paraíso Maya neighborhood ended with the death of a man who was physically assaulted by a group of individuals until he lost consciousness. The report was received this Sunday through the emergency number 911, alerting about a person lying on the public street in Supermanzana 107, block 50. Upon arriving at Tac Be Ha Street, in front of building “P,” authorities confirmed the discovery of the victim, who had visible injuries of extreme severity.

According to reports, the man had multiple fractures and severe traumatic brain injury, resulting from blunt force blows received mainly to the face and torso. Although paramedics arrived at the site while the subject still showed weak vital signs, the rescue maneuvers were insufficient and his death was confirmed at the scene shortly after.

Eyewitnesses indicated that, moments before the assault, the victim had a heated argument with several individuals. The verbal dispute quickly escalated to physical violence, at which point the group began beating him in a coordinated manner until he was left motionless on the pavement. So far, neighbors claim not to know if there was a previous relationship between the now deceased and his attackers, or if the attack was the result of a chance encounter.

After confirmation of the death, municipal police officers proceeded to cordon off the area to preserve the crime scene and collect possible evidence that could help identify those responsible. The homicide investigation personnel arrived at the site to document the case and coordinate the transfer of the body, which remains unidentified at the Forensic Medical Service.

The case has been placed under the custody of the ministerial authorities, who have initiated the corresponding investigation file to clarify the motive for the attack. Meanwhile, the atmosphere in Paraíso Maya remains in tense calm, while residents of the area demand increased surveillance in light of the rise in violent incidents resulting from fights and group assaults in the common areas of the buildings.
