Cancun, Quintana Roo — A judge has ordered a man held for trial on human trafficking charges after police raided two properties in Cancun and rescued eight women allegedly forced into prostitution, the state prosecutor’s office announced.
The suspect, identified only as Eduardo “N,” was formally charged with human trafficking in the form of forced prostitution. The case stems from a search warrant executed at a property on Holbox Street and La Costa Avenue in Cancun’s Supermanzana 32.
During the raid, investigators found four women who appeared to be victims of sexual exploitation. The investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly handled logistics for the operation, including picking up victims at the airport and transporting them to houses where they were held.
Prosecutors said Eduardo “N” would drive the women to meet clients for sexual services and then return them to the properties where they were kept under guard.
The investigation led authorities to a second property on Canario Street in the Quetzales neighborhood of Supermanzana 523, where they found four more women who may also have been trafficking victims.
After reviewing evidence presented by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Human Trafficking Crimes, a judge ordered the suspect to stand trial. The court imposed pretrial detention for two years or for the duration of the criminal proceedings.
