Cancún, Quintana Roo — A 31-year-old man was arrested on human trafficking and child pornography charges after a raid on a home in the Supermanzana 61 area of Cancún, the State Prosecutor’s Office said.
The arrest took place last Saturday during a search warrant executed at a residence in the Privadas del Sol residential development. The suspect was identified as Marco Antonio “N.”
The investigation began when the U.S. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged an email address and phone number linked to a digital platform used to store and distribute child sexual abuse material, according to prosecutors.
During the raid, agents seized ammunition of various calibers, 11 cell phones, four storage devices, three modems, a laptop, a tablet, and four phone SIM cards.
A forensic review of videos found on the suspect’s devices showed three girls between the ages of 6 and 9 engaged in sexual acts and exhibitionism, the Prosecutor’s Office said. Investigators also found that the man secretly recorded girls in shopping malls and other public places, and sometimes approached girls aged 9 and 14 asking them for kisses.
The suspect also had additional videos and images of child pornography stored on his electronic devices.
The suspect and the seized evidence were turned over to a judge to determine his legal status.
